Annual Heritage Lecture and Recital

Event Description

For over 30 years Vienna Cottage and All Saints’ Church have hosted an annual heritage lecture and recital to raise issues relating to heritage, and to raise funds for our respective heritage buildings.

Our recital on the historic Bevington Organ this year will be given by Sean Weatherley, who began learning the pipe organ while he was in high school. He has participated in the Sydney Organ Competition multiple times and was given the opportunity to perform on the Sydney Town Hall organ for Young Organist’s Day 2019. He also played at the Sydney Town Hall a second time last year for his final high school Speech Day. He is currently studying a Bachelor of Engineering/Computer Science at UNSW and is an organist at Roseville Uniting Church. Sean has also been playing violin since he was 5 years old and is a member of Australian Youth Orchestra for 2024.

This years lecture will be given by Rick Allen, Australian Historical and Heritage Glass Specialist. Rick is one of the few remaining specialists who work in the restoration of heritage and historical stained glass in Australia. He has restored some of our most windows across our Nation, including Old Parliament House, Sydney Town Hall and St Mary’s and St Andrew’s Cathedrals. He is one of Australia’s most trusted stained glass craftsmen due to his immense knowledge and his practical experience from over 40 years specialty work. He is currently restoring the East Window of All Saints by Lyons and Cottier, of which the completed product will be his back drop in All Saints’ as he discusses this window, along with other significant windows, many of which are found in All Saints’ Church.

Tickets are $30 each, and available here.
