Missionary Giving Beyond the Parish
Each year our Parish selects three missionary projects beyond our Parish who we wish to support through prayer, finances and goods. This year we are supporting the following projects:
We support this local service through prayer, the contribution of goods to the local food pantry in Hunters Hill, and supporting the many good activities that this local charity provides, including care for those who are frail, lonely and disabled.
Working with ABM we are seeking to raise funds to support WASH in the Solomon Islands.
The Anglican Church of Melanesia says:
“ACOM-V expects to see changes in people’s behaviour towards promoting a clean environment, clean homes and improved hygiene practices, including new learning to enhance people’s lives despite their remoteness.
“It is not that people do not understand the importance of hygiene practices. They do understand … but it is a matter of people not realising their potential to utilize their existing resources and create their own ways of improvement.
“The common challenge faced by communities is access to water, and people are expecting the government to provide for them but do not realize [they have] the existing resources to build their own water facilities.
“People in communities have come to realise the importance of ensuring behaviour changes. Our program’s informal ways of delivering messages have effectively changed the behaviour of people of all ages. Our use of participatory role plays, which target behaviour issues, is fun and effective. It helps people realise their own ways of improvement.
“Therefore, we can see changes of behaviour at the family and community level.”
St Laurence House Youth Services is a medium-term residential service giving at risk and homeless young people support, time and space to get their lives back on track.
They are currently one of only two medium-term accommodation services located in Sydney that provide a home to young people between 13 and 18 years giving them long-term care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Further to this our Parish supports the work of Anglicare (such as through clothing bins located on our properties), Archbishop’s Appeals, and other appeals as per the needs of our local, national and international community.
Activities
All Saints’ Choir
All Saints’ Choir is an active part of the worship at the 10:00am Sunday Service. The choir sings each Sunday plus special feasts and events. The choir occasionally sings for weddings, funerals and for other special services when requested. The repertoire includes singing a setting of the Eucharist, four hymns, psalmody, a motet during communion and anthems.
Rehearsals are held every Thursday evening from 7.30pm. All are welcome to join the choir. Further information at our Music Page.
All Saints’ Gardening Group
A group of devoted green thumbs (and some not so green) meet together on the second Saturday of each month from 8:00am to 10:00am to work in the grounds of All Saints. Afterwards they enjoy a cuppa together.
Community Usage of our Spaces
Our Parish welcomes many community groups to meet in our spaces – from exercise and drama to filming and meditation!
