An Easter Pageant
There is a long history of Easter Pageants in the Parish of Hunters Hill, but it has been many years since we last did one. A pageant is a great way of telling a story that includes music and drama, and it is our hope and desire to revive this event. The Easter story is not an easy one to tell children, and we hope to do so in a sensitive, fun and inclusive manner.
We know that music and drama can be a lot of fun, helps develop skills and builds confidence in children.
Our Parish has some talented musicians found in our Director of Music, Philip, and Assistant Director of Music, Kerrie. We also have some wonderful people who will support the rehearsals each week.
Rehearsals will take place from 4pm to 5:30pm in All Saints’ Church Hall, Ambrose Street, Hunters Hill, on Thursdays 27th February to 2nd April (inclusive).
Cost of rehearsals is $5.00 per child, which overs the cost of our staff, and a small snack.
Rehearsal will include: singing (as a choir and individuals), games, story-telling, drama. We hope it will be fun, as well as instructive.
Parents/carers will need to sign children in and out of rehearsal.
The Pageant will take place from 4:00pm on Sunday 5th April (Palm Sunday) in All Saints’ Church. Parents/carers and family and friends will be most welcome.
We will tell the story of Jesus from his entry to Jerusalem, the Last Supper, his death and most importantly his resurrection. We will also weave into the story some modern Easter traditions.
We hope it will be a joyful experience of telling the Easter story, and we will conclude with a light supper in the Parish Hall.
